In loving memory of Gladys S. Belliveau, wife of Raymond E. Belliveau, deceased, who died on May 4, 2026, in Lititz, Pennsylvania.
Sandy was born in Forest Hills, Pennsylvania on April 24, 1928, to Ann and Jacob W. Sanders, one of six children. She graduated from Wilkinsburg High School in 1946 and was employed at Carnegie Institute of Technology in Oakland PA as secretary to the Assistant Chairman of Admissions. She attended evening classes at the Margaret Morris Carnegie College for Women.
Sandy met her husband, Ray, at the Wilkinsburg YWCA and they were married on November 13, 1948. They lived in Buffalo, New York for two years then moved to West Paterson, New Jersey where their three children were born.
The family relocated to West Caldwell, New Jersey where she began a successful career in early childhood education. She taught at the First Presbyterian Church Nursery School while attending William Paterson College in the evenings receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree followed by a Teaching Certificate in Early Childhood Education. Following a move to Wilson, North Carolina, she was asked to develop a new preschool program at Greenfield Academy. This was followed by a position in the Wilson County School District as a Kindergarten teacher.
In retirement, she and Ray moved to Landisville, Pennsylvania to be closer to their children and grandchildren. They joined the Friendship Force and travelled extensively over the next 10 years. She was very active in bridge clubs, an accomplished knitter, and a devoted wife and mother.
Sandy is survived by her three children, Kathryn Evans, Richard Belliveau and Janice Engle, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A service will be held for family and friends in Steinman Hall at Moravian Manor on May 30, 2026, at 11:30am. Contributions in memory of Sandy can be made to the Moravian Manor Community Fund, moravianmanorcommunities.org/donate-now, and would be deeply appreciated.
