Dr. George E. Bagley, a resident of Trillium Place, Lancaster PA, made his triumphant journey home with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 27th, 2025.

He was born February 14, 1933, in Corry, PA. He was the son of the late Gerald Lewis Bagley and Ina Mae (Whitney) Bagley. He was married to his loving wife, Dian (Frew) Bagley on December 13, 2014.

George was the loving father of Dr. Daniel M. Bagley, husband of Laurie of Bradley Beach, NJ, Deborah L. Wife of Al Scott, of Lancaster, Douglas E. Bagley, husband of Shelly of West Olive, MI, and Jonathan D. Bagley, husband of Angela, of Mountville, PA. He is survived by six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

He was predeceased by his first wife of 58 years, Gail (Wooster) Bagley, his brother Donald E. Bagley of Boca Raton, FL, and his sister, Grace Bagley-Snyder of Orlando, FL.

George graduated from the Corry Area High School in 1950, from Houghton (NY) College with a B.S., in Chemistry in 1954, and from the University of Pennsylvania with a PhD in Physical Chemistry in 1959.

He joined the Armstrong World Industries Chemistry Department in 1958 as a Research Chemist and retired from Armstrong in 1996, after 38 years of service, as Manager of Coatings and Materials, Floor Products Operation Strategic Innovation. George was one of the pioneers in the development of radiation curable coatings for no-wax flooring products. He held eight U.S. Patents. He was a member of the American Chemical Society, the Society of Plastics Engineers, the Society of Photographic Scientists and Engineers and the American Society for Testing and Materials.

George was a charter member of the Hempfield United Methodist Church where he served at various times as Sunday School Teacher, Chairman of Administrative Board, Staff-Parish Committee and Building Committee, and member of the Council on Ministries, Finance Committee, Nursery School Committee, and the Board of Trustees. For 30 years, he was a lay delegate to the Annual Conference of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church, where he served at various times on the Council on Ministries, Commission on Equitable Salaries, Budget Committee, Conference Sessions Committee, and the Camping Board.

After retirement from Armstrong, he joined the staff of Hempfield United Methodist Church as a full-time volunteer member. He served as Staff Adviser and Project Manager for several major building projects.

He was an avid reader of archaeology, history and biographies. He enjoyed solving mathematical puzzles.

A Memorial Service will be held at Hempfield United Methodist Church, 3050 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 1st, 2025 with a visitation prior to the service at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, Memorials made to: Hempfield United Methodist Church at the address listed above or to Trillium Place By Tandem Living, 1520 Harrisburg Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601.
