G. Aaron Smith, Jr.

G. Aaron Smith, Jr., 87, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Homestead Village. Born in Quarryville, he was the son of the late George A. Smith, Sr. and Emma Walters Smith.  He was married to Dorothy Rose Smith.

He was a graduate of F&M College and the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and served in the U. S. Navy during WWII. Aaron spent his career with Armstrong World Industries, primarily in the International Division. He enjoyed world travel, both in his work and in retirement.  He was a member of Highland Presbyterian Church and served as a board member and treasurer for a Lancaster day care center. He was actively involved in supporting the Lancaster Opera ­Company and the Lancaster Symphony Chorus, which his wife directed.

In addition to his wife, he  is survived by four children, Debra Lenssen, Hallie Polt, Andrea Folan, and Evan Smith, as well as seven grandchildren and a sister, June Mylin.

A memorial service will be held at Highland Presbyterian Church, 500 East Roseville Rd., Lancaster on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at 10 AM. The family will visit with friends following the service.
