F. Robert “Bob” Bare Jr.

F. Robert “Bob” Bare Jr. F. Robert “Bob” Bare Jr., 94, of Lancaster, passed away on August 27, 2026, at Homestead Village. He was the loving and devoted husband of the late Marilyn M. Bare, who passed away on March 1, 2026. Bob and Marilyn shared 72 years of marriage together.

Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on December 19, 1931, he was the son of the late Frank R. Bare and Anne E. (Mellinger) Bare.

In 1949, Bob graduated from McCaskey High School, then furthered his education at Franklin and Marshall College receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Business. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Armed Forces as he spent 2 years in the Army after college. Upon returning to Lancaster, he began a 33-year career at RCA as a Standard Cost Analyst, including a 2-year assignment at Random House Publishing in Westminster, MD. Bob and Marilyn were lifelong residents of Lancaster County other than for a few years in St Louis, MO and Hampstead, MD.

Bob was a dedicated Father, including making every effort to attend all of his children’s sporting events and his children’s and grandchildren’s graduations, tennis matches and dance recitals. He was an avid golfer and tennis player and instilled a love of sports and games in his children. Bob was also a loyal Phillies fan, pinochle and bridge player (most notably with the “BBSS” bridge club - Bare, Boyer, Snyder, and Sload), a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church and enjoyed the beach in Ocean City, New Jersey for over 50 years and many trips to the Florida Keys.

Bob also was a valued member of the community. He helped create (and coach) a girls softball league in Manheim, volunteered at Meals on Wheels, ran the retirees golf league at Overlook Golf Club and was a mentor for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

Bob is survived by his children, Michael (Donna), Christopher (Donna), and Martha Lane (Thomas); his grandchildren, Rob, Andrew (Alyssa), Samantha (Ty), Kent (Kara), Jacqueline, Allison (Luke), Kelly, and Erica; his great-grandchildren, Violet, Silas, Elliott, and Henry; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Marilyn, his parents and his sister Barbara Davidson, Bob was preceded in death by his eldest son, Stephen Peter.

Bob’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Homestead Village for the care and kindness extended to him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at the DeBord Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602 on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM. A viewing will be held at the funeral home from 12:00 PM until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.
