Evelyn Mae Baker Keck

Evelyn Mae Baker Keck (86), formerly of Mountville has gone to be eternally with her God on Sunday, August 6 at the Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy surrounded by her family. Born in Marietta, PA, on April 29, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Willis and Anna Baker. After graduating from Donegal High School, she worked at the Marietta Depot and then Charles Chips before marrying John C. Keck (now deceased) in 1951. A devoted Mother, excellent cook and baker, she enjoyed being a homemaker. After her kids were raised, she went back to work full time at JC Penney in Park City , continuing to work part time way into her retirement years.

She loved knitting and sewing, and was collector of dolls and stuffed animals. She later took to painting wood cut outs for the yard along with her companion at that time; Clarence Herr (now deceased). They made many Christmas displays bigger than life and were featured in the Lancaster New Era. They were two little sized people in statute, but big in heart and talent. Evelyn was also an avid reader, loving her romance novels and doing crosswords puzzles. One thing she wanted everyone to know is that she loved everybody. She loved Christmas and playing Santa Claus, gifts for everyone!

As her health declined later in life, she became a member of Albright Life Services where she went to their daycare activities daily and later resided at Elizabethtown Nursing & Rehab Center for the past three years. Evelyn was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Orange Street in Lancaster. Her favorite bible verse was Psalm 23.

She is survived by two daughters, Regina Ensor (James)of Landisville, Pa and Deborah Devine Guhl (David) of Mountville, PA, two grandchildren, Ryan Ensor (Sara), Landisville, and Melissa Ensor McDonnell (Patrick), Holly Ridge, NC, one step granddaughter, Kennedy Ressler, Mountville, PA, and two great grandsons, Jacob, and Lochlan. She is also survived by two brothers, Richard Baker (Louise), and Bill Baker (Judy), of Mount Joy.

Celebration of Life services will be at First Presbyterian Church, 140 E Orange St, Lancaster, PA 17602 on Wednesday, August 9 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Dr. Donald W. Hackett officiating. Family will greet friends from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Interment in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Columbia PA.
