Earl V. Brodhecker, 79, of Lancaster, died Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Lancaster General Hospital.

He was the husband of the late Vivian Waltz Brodhecker who died in 1993. Born July 14, 1931 in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Earl R. and Esther A. Brodhecker.

Earl graduated from J. P. McCaskey High School in 1949. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 to 1956 as an aircraft engine mechanic with the 305th Air Refueling Squadron during the Korean Conflict. Earl retired from G. G. Schmitt & Sons, manufacturers of marine hardware, after 35 years of employment. He enjoyed collecting model airplanes, jigsaw puzzles and anything mechanical.

Surviving are two daughters, Denise L. Brodhecker and Stacy Good; and one grandson, Austin. He was preceded in death by three sisters.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at 7:00 P.M. at the Richard A. Sheetz Funeral Home, 2024 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA with Pastor Thomas Brown officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Military honors accorded by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Operation Scarlet, P.O. Box 8463, Lancaster, PA 17604.
