Dr. Bruce C. Wittmaier, 84, of Lancaster, passed away on April 16, 2026 at Hamilton Arms. He was the loving husband of the late Susan Carol Wittmaier who preceded him in death in 2021.

Born in Allentown , PA, he was the son of the late Herbert and Miriam (Nixon) Wittmaier.

He attended Plymouth Whitemarsh high school and later received his undergraduate degree from Lehigh University and finally received his PHD from The University of Rochester.

Much of his professional career was spent as a clinical psychologist. His early career was as a college professor before going into clinical practice; first with The Lancaster Guidance Center and then later moving into private practice. The last few years of his career he spent working as a therapist for Wellspan Health.

He was a long-time member of First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster where he was involved in the choir

In his spare time, Bruce enjoyed reading, photography and listening to classical and opera music. He was a lifelong Philadelphia sports fan, especially the Phillies.

He is survived by a son, Jeff Wittmaier (husband of Tracy), a daughter, Kristen Duff (wife of Bob Duff) and a stepdaughter, Beth Bakken (wife of Rich). Also surviving are grandsons, Joshua Duff (husband of Maddy), Alex Duff and Seth Anderson. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Herbert (Bud) Wittmaier and Jack Wittmaier
