Dorothy L. Abbott

Dorothy L. Abbott, 91, ­formerly of Lancaster, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011 at Brereton Manor, Washington Boro.  Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Charles M. and Florence Herzog Logan. She was the wife of the late Boyd R. Abbott.

Dorothy retired as a secretary at Armstrong World Industries. She volunteered at the Landis Valley Museum and was past President of the League of Women Voters, Lancaster. An avid golfer, she loved to read, and enjoyed gardening and oil painting. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and vacationing in Maine.

She is survived by: a son, Roger, husband of Bonnie Dorsey of Lancaster; a daughter, Cynthia, wife of Frank Martzall of Mountville; a stepson, Boyd R., III, husband of Rebecca Abbott of Collegeville; 5 grandchildren, Kristy (Joseph) Legenstein of Lancaster, Kendall (Michael) Warfel of Landisville, Victoria Abbott of Philadelphia, Duane (Pamela) Martzall of Cogan Station, Debra (Ash) Suri of New York, NY; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, William Logan of Strasburg.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Maney, and a brother, Charles M. Logan, Jr.

Funeral services will be held from the Kearney A. ­Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, on Monday, April 4, 2011 at 11 AM with interment following in Conestoga Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM at the funeral home on Monday.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.
