Dorothy A. Gantz

Dorothy A. Gantz, 95, formerly of Union St., Lancaster, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Lancaster General Hospital. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Samuel T. and Elsie Rippey Byers. She was the wife of the late Victor H. Gantz, Jr., who died in June of 1986.

Dorothy was a retired food inspector for Consumers Packing, Lancaster. She enjoyed gardening, spending time at the beach, and her dogs. She was a former member of St. James Episcopal Church.

Surviving are: a daughter, Anne Ackerman of Lancaster; 2 grandsons, Jason R. husband of Paige Ackerman of Chambersburg, Stephen M. Ackerman of Lancaster; 2 great-granddaughters, Ainslee and Lauren Ackerman. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Byers, and a sister, Betty Lindsey.

Funeral services will be held from the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, on Monday, March 15, 2010 at 11 AM with interment following in Riverview Burial Park. Friends may call from 10 to 11 AM at the funeral home on Monday.
