Donald E. Ansell, 85, of Ephrata, died at home on Tuesday, April 5, 2011.
He was married 24 years to Gloria J. Rittenhouse Ansell. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles Ansel and Catharine Hess Meekins.
Donald retired in 1989 from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years of employment. Prior to that, he had worked at Armstrong for 10 years. He was a graduate of the former W. Earl High School. Donald served in the United States Air Force from 1949 to 1952. He was a member of the American Legion, the AARP and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Donald enjoyed the music of Elvis Presley and following the Philadelphia Phillies and the Eagles.
Surviving besides his wife is a son Rick husband of Cindy Ansell of Columbia; nine grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Welsh.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Entombment in Conestoga Memorial Park. Military honors accorded by the Red Rose Veterans Honor Guard.
