Lancaster

David Scott Weidman was born February 13, 1952. He was the third child of Russel L. And Bebe (Diehm) Weidman of Lancaster. He attended Hempfield HS and went on to work as a West Hempfield Police Officer, eventually becoming the Chief of Police. Following that he worked for Georgia Pacific where he retired as warehouse supervisor. In his younger years he also worked on various local farms.

Dave spent several happy summers fishing on the bay near Bowers Beach. He also had a keen interest in building and racing drag cars and spent a lot of time at the Maple Grove NHRA racetrack with his older brother. Dave enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family at their cabin in Sullivan County, where he, his brother & father completed a large addition that allowed many hunters to gather during deer season. On many weekends the entire Weidman family could be found there enjoying watching deer, bear and flying squirrels. Known to his family as “Devo”, the man had an awesome sense of humor and could entertain any group with great stories.

After taking excellent care of his parents until their passing, Dave moved back into the old Weidman homestead on the Marietta Pike and lived there until recently. In his final days he was under Hospice care at the Pappus House in Thomasville.

Dave is survived by his older brother, Russ (Carolyn) of Lititz, his older sister, Linda Clark of Athens, PA, and two nephews, Greg Fiedler (Deb) of Lancaster and Jonathan Clark of New Cumberland.
