David J. Jenkins

July 13, 1947 — January 18, 2024

Lancaster

David John Jenkins IV entered the Church Triumphant on Thursday January 18, 2024.

He was born to Miriam and David J. Jenkins on July 13, 1947.

He was a lifelong sports fan and within recent past has been an ardent historian for his Maternal and Paternal Ancestry research.

A devoted father, he enjoyed many special sporting events with his son, DJ (David John Jenkins V), who remained one of his life’s greatest joys.

He was employed full time in the Purchasing Aspect of manufacturing for over forty years of his life. He also served four years in the United States Air Force from 1966 to 1970 specializing in procurement.

He loved Penn State Football games whenever he could attend.  Running was his passion.

In addition to sports, he loved and was a lifelong member of the Lancaster Moravian Church.  He served as head Sacristan for the church for over 30 years and in addition was a trustee, when the church was located at 1460 Eden Road.

David received an Associate degree in business between the years of 1965-1966.  Retired from his profession, he then chose to drive a van for special needs children and a school bus for the school district. Something he loved more than he could have anticipated.

A flag waving patriot, David continued to be an advocate for “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”.  He loved his country and would participate by marching in the Lititz Memorial Day and July 4th parades wearing the very uniform of his military days, while carrying “Old Glory” on those special occasions.

He may not have realized it but he was a shining example of discipline, courage, and integrity for his family all of his life.  Wonderful provider and father for his son, DJ, he was also a pillar of strength for his sister, Deborah.  His parents were always proud of him and loved him so much all of their lives.

He is survived by his son, DJ, and his sister Deborah both of Lancaster County and multiple cousins whom he loved.

David remains a wonderful testimony of a life well lived and now will hear the words of his savior, saying, “Well done good and faithful servant, enter into the joy and fellowship of your Father”.
