Cory Ashlin Ream

d. October 5, 2022

Cory A. Ream, 33, of Lancaster, entered into rest on Wednesday, October 5th, 2022.

Cory was born in Lancaster, PA, to Connie A. Ream, of Lancaster and Stanley R. Gainer, of Elizabethtown.

Cory was the kindest person you could have ever met. As a child and teen, Cory was part of the Boy Scouts of America. During this time Cory learned many life skills, and made many friendships with other scouters along the way. He always enjoyed summer camp, and the many outings Troop 4 would go on. One of Cory’s biggest life achievements was receiving the highest rank in boy scouts, the Eagle Scout badge. He worked very hard for this, working to give back to the community in doing so.

As a teen, Cory was part of the concert band and marching band where he played drums and cymbals. Cory loved music, and he was an artist, in many ways. He especially loved drawing, and was extremely talented, even getting one of his own drawings tattooed on his arm.

Anyone who knew Cory knows he was a hard worker. He worked at RGAL, in medical records as a young man. Later, Cory worked in the deli department at Darrenkamps for 10 years, and GIANT for 3 years.

Cory also attended the Veterinary Technician program in Willow Street to take care of his favorite things, animals. He wanted to become a certified Vet tech.

In Cory’s spare time, especially on the weekends, he would enjoy watching Kyle Busch win a NASCAR race, or watch the Philadelphia Eagles win a game, and be on the road to the playoffs.

Cory also enjoyed playing the card game, Magic the Gathering going to many game nights at the local comic store, as well as attended many group sessions of Dungeons and Dragons where he could express himself in a fantasy world. These were two places Cory always felt at home.

As many know, Cory was diagnosed with brain cancer 8 years ago. He never let it hold him back or stop him. He always got up every day, with a smile on his face, and would face the day head on. Cory endured

many treatments over the years, but he never complained, and always held onto hope for his future, and fought for his life right up until the end. He was taken from us way too soon.

Though Cory may have passed on, he will always be with us as we will always keep his memory alive in our hearts. He touched so many lives. And as typical Cory, always helping others, he is continuing to help  others in his passing as he was an organ donor and his corneas have been donated to help an individual in need.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Cory’s memory to American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org or Humane League of Pennsylvania, www.humanepa.org.

Visitation for family and friends will be held at 12 noon until a Memorial Mass at 1 pm, Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Historic St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church 119 S. Prince St. Lancaster PA 17603.
