Charles R. Slaugh, 97, died Friday, March 12 at Homestead Village. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late William and Lena Schwan Slaugh. He was married to Verna (Campbell) Slaugh for 52 years, until her death in 1988. He later married Dorothy Kessler, who died in 2001.

Charles joined the Lancaster County National Bank in 1929 as a check clerk. He later became book keeper, auditor, comptroller, and retired as Senior Vice President. He is a past president of the Central Pennsylvania Conference of Bank Administration and a past member of the Lancaster County Bankers Association and Lancaster Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of Hamilton Park United Church of Christ, and the Conestoga Country Club.

Charlie enjoyed traveling, golf, the stock market, and his family.

Surviving are: a daughter, Barbara wife of William Ehleiter; stepdaughters, Kathleen wife of Kent Gardner and Carole wife of David Ehemann; stepsons, James and David Kessler; 6 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Paul, Dick, and James Slaugh.

A memorial service celebrating Charlie’s life will be held from the Hamilton Park United Church of Christ, 1210 Maple Ave., Lancaster on Tuesday, March 16th at 11 AM. Friends may visit with the family from 10 until 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Charlie’s name may be made to Hospice of Lancaster County, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
