Cathryn V. Mccullough
Cathryn V. McCullough, 84, of Lancaster, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Glenn at WillowValley. She was the loving wife of the late Robert M. McCullough. Born in Philadelphia, PA she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Cathryn (Mckinney) Whiteside.
Kitty was a graduate of Upper DarbyHigh School. She excelled in typing and shorthand. She enjoyed those skills. She was employed by Unisys in Downingtown for 10 years as an Executive Secretary before she retired.
Kitty had varied interests. She was an avid Bridge Player, a tennis player, a friend to the birds, as she loved to feed them and encourage them to build nests and watch the baby birds grow. She loved to garden, and have flowering bushes that she would plant and nurture herself. She also enjoyed walking every day. She was a member of the choir at GroveMethodistChurch in West Chester for many years. She also enjoyed theater, and traveling. She had visited many countries with her husband. She especially loved Ocean City, NJ. She loved the beach, the surf and the boardwalk where in the early years, she and Bob would indulge in grilled sticky buns.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert M. McCullough, Sr. She is survived by 2 daughters, Barbara L. Steck, wife of Raymond J. Steck of West Chester, PA and Janet L. Young , wife of Howard Young of Coatesville, PA; 2 sons, Daniel C. McCullough, husband of Susan McCullough of Downingtown, PA and Robert M. McCullough Jr., husband of Mary McCullough of Christiana, PA. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. Kitty thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family.
A funeral service will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church, 600 E Penn Grant Rd, Willow Street, PA 17584 on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Steve Bowser officiating. A visitation will be held Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Alzheimer’s disease Association, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110-9638.
