Bernina Danielson

Bernina (Hostetter) Danielson, age 87, was taken home to be with her Lord on Saturday, January 20, 2024. Her husband Gordon H. Danielson preceded her to heaven in July of 2020.

 Born on November 22, 1936, to Benjamin and Martha Hostetter, she grew up in East Stroudsburg, PA. From an early age, Bernina was devoted to her Savior Jesus. Her biblically grounded faith in her Almighty God infused all aspects of her life. She received a Bachelor Degree of Music in organ performance at Houghton College (NY) in 1958, and went on to earn a Master of Music, also in organ performance, at Syracuse University.

 Bernina and Gordon married on September 8, 1962, at South Presbyterian Church, Syracuse, NY. Gordon was on the committee that had hired Bernina as the organist and choir director there. Bernina shared her love of music with many throughout her life, blessing congregations from the organ bench and the classroom in Syracuse, NY; Akron, OH; and at Westminster Presbyterian in Lancaster, PA. Many families from Westminster will remember her ministry. with the Music Camps and the young children’s catechism classes- passing on her commitment to Jesus and love for God’s Word, just as she shared with her family and acquaintances. Bernina also equipped and encouraged many through ladies’ Bible studies throughout her life, and was an avid seamstress.

 Bernina’s loving family includes children Marjie Brake (Jim), Phil Danielson (Elaine), and Miriam Kruppenbacher (Art). Grandchildren are Joshua Brake (Abbey), Nathan Brake (Katie), Rachel Brake, Emma Danielson, Isla Danielson, Leah Kruppenbacher, and Anna Kruppenbacher. She has been blessed to also have 4 great-grandchildren: Judah, Chloe, and Lucy (of Josh &; Abbey), and Chelsea (of Nate & Katie). She is survived by sister Sarah Hostetter. Bernina was predeceased by siblings David Hostetter, Albert Hostetter, and Edwin Hostetter.

 Funeral services will be held on Monday January 29, 2024, at 11:00 am at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2151 Oregon Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601. A 9:30 am viewing and visitation time will precede the service. All are invited to a luncheon at the church following the service. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm at Landis Valley Mennonite Cemetery.
