Beatrice E. “Betty” Brubaker Bender

Beatrice E. “Betty” Brubaker Bender, 91 of Conestoga View, formerly of Spring Manor Apartments and Rohrerstown, died Thursday, February 12, 2009. Betty was the 8th generation of Brubakers that settled in Rohrerstown in 1717.
She was married 67 years to the late Charles R. Bender who died April 2, 2004. Born July 17, 1917 she was the daughter of the late Christian H. and Amanda Neff Brubaker.
Betty was a member of the Lord’s House of Prayer in Lancaster. Her hobbies included jewelry making and shopping and her love of babies brought a fulfillment into her life.
Surviving are two daughters, E. Eileen Bender Johns of Lancaster, and Susan E. Bender Barton of Falls Church, VA; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son Robert “Bob” Bender, two sisters, Esther Brubaker Noll and Fanny Brubaker Herr and by a brother Herman Brubaker.
Services and interment in the Rohrerstown Mennonite Cemetery will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the American Diabetes, 3544 N. Progress Ave., Suite 202, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
