Anna Mae Messersmith, 90, of Lancaster, passed away on November 8, 2025 at Hospice & Community Care. She was the loving wife of the late Elwood E. Messersmith who preceded her in death in 1992.
Born in Lancaster, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Anna Ruby (Warfel) Wilson.
After attending high school, she dedicated much of her adult life to her family as a homemaker. Later in life, she worked for Datcon in East Petersburg for 15 years, where she eventually retired from. She was also a part-time lunch aide at Rohrerstown Elementary school.
She lived her entire life in the Lancaster area, most recently as a resident at Ephrata Manor followed by a short stay at Hospice & Community Care in Mt Joy, PA.
In her spare time, she enjoyed word searches and jigsaw puzzles as well as painting and drawing.
She previously attended Grace Evangelical Congregational Church in East Petersburg.
Anna is survived by her sons, Kenneth E. Messersmith and Jeffrey E. Messersmith (husband of Wendy L.) both of Lancaster, PA. Also surviving is a grandson, Shane J. Messersmith of Reamstown, PA and a granddaughter, Hope L. Messersmith of Denver, PA as well as her “Furry adopted son,” named Snow.
In addition to her late husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Edna Ruby DeGroot (wife of Robert) formerly of Lancaster and by brothers, Hunter Woodrow Wilson formerly of York, PA and Ronald Walter Wilson formerly of Plano, TX.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602 on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 at 10:00 AM. A viewing will be held at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, 60 Indiantown Gap Rd, Annville, PA 17003 at 12:30 PM.
