Angel Luis Mercado

November 22, 1945 — January 22, 2026

Lancaster

Angel Luis Mercado, or "Wiso," as everyone called him, was born in Yauco, Puerto Rico, on November 22, 1945. He was raised in a household of ten, which included his parents, Ramón and Carmen, as well as his six brothers, one sister, and himself.

Angel and his brothers grew up in Puerto Rico, obsessed with baseball, and they all turned into great players. After he moved to New York in the late 60s, he kept loving the game and played on several different teams. At one point, all the brothers even played together on a team called "Los Gallos" in Manhattan's Central Park. Now, "Los Gallos" are back together, playing in heaven.

Angel was a huge Yankee fan who loved playing popular Spanish tunes on his guitar. He really enjoyed his work as a printing specialist for years.

Angel was a proud and happy father to his only two daughters, Carmen Lydia and Nancy.

He is now reunited with his daughter, Carmen Lydia, his six brothers, and his parents in eternal rest.

He is survived by his daughter, Nancy, his sister, Aurea (Magie), six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and family and friends who will always love and miss him.
