Albert Earle Pentecost, 88, resident of Mennonite Home in Lancaster, PA died Sunday morning, May 2, 2010, at Lancaster General Hospital after many years of struggle with Parkinson’s disease.

Mr. Pentecost was born in Narberth, PA and lived in Chester, PA in his early years. He was the son of the late John C. and Edna Brundage Pentecost. He was married for fifty-four years to the late Karla Mary Chmel Pentecost.

Mr. Pentecost worked for the Delaware County Trust Company for ten years from 1938. He completed law school in 1947 earning a combined LLB degree from the Wharton School of the University of PA and University of Chicago. He joined the Title Insurance Corporation of PA as general counsel in 1955, eventually becoming Executive Vice President and Secretary. He served as President of the Land Title Association of Pennsylvania from 1975-1976. In 1979, he was elected to the Board of Directors of TICP. In 1990, he became the first recipient of the corporation’s “Albert E. Pentecost” Award. After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Lancaster, PA.

Mr. Pentecost suffered numerous afflictions during his lifetime. His particular ministry, however, was his faithful and persevering care of his beloved wife who endured severe physical conditions until her death in 2001.

Mr. Pentecost was a member of Great Valley Presbyterian Church in Devon, PA and later Westminster Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, PA. He was a man of persevering faith and reverent trust in God.

He had a special love for music and played the cello. He also had a keen interest in photography and is remembered for his home gallery of personally developed scenic photographs.

Mr. Pentecost is survived by one brother, John Dwight Pentecost of Dallas, TX and one sister-in-law, Margaret Atkinson Pentecost of Georgia. He is predeceased by one brother, Edward C. Pentecost, and a sister, Wilma Story. He is also survived by 6 nephews, 4 nieces and 23 grand nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 7, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2151 Oregon Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601. There will be a calling hour at 9:30 AM followed by a service of remembrance and praise to God at 10:00 AM. Interment will be at Chester Rural Cemetery in Upland, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the Missions Fund of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
