Shelly K. Gherke

Shelly Gherke, age 60, of Lancaster PA, passed away on October 24, 2020.  She is survived by her two children, Rachel and Michael David Gherke. Shelly graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1982. She spent her career caring for others as a dietician in numerous hospitals and nursing homes, including Lancaster Regional Medical Center and Penn State Hershey Rehabilitation Hospital.

Besides her children, Shelly is survived by her sister Kelly Hansen, brothers Allen and David Hykes, her nephew Jonathon and Valeen Hykes, and her niece Melissa and Darin Babin, as well as great nieces and nephews – Kiersten Hykes, Madisyn Babin, Carter Babin and Avery Babin, and several cousins.

Shelly loved and cared for her family fiercely; her greatest loves were her children and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Her bright smile and enormous heart will be solemnly missed.

A small service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Lancaster on Saturday at 11am.
