Jeanette and Poke,

I just wanted to send you both my thoughts and prayers and let you know how sorry I am to hear of the loss of your husband and father. He was such a great man. Always smiling, always so kind, and always had a joke to tell. He was a pleasure to work with, and I was lucky to be able to call him a friend. Please if either of you need anything please don’t hesitate to get ahold of me. I am always here for you both.

Condolence from Bruce Barr on July 26th, 2016 1:51 pm

Jeanette and family,
So very sorry to hear the news of Mel’s passing. I personally hold many, many fond memories of Mel in our growing up years. I reflect on those memories often. As a mater of fact, the chief of MTFD (Troy Slamaker) and I had just mentioned Mel’s name Saturday as we drove back from OBX. We talked about he and his family’s long history of the fire service. I would be present at Mel’s memorial service but we’ll be out of town. I pray for you Jeanette and your family and friends during this painful time, that God will grant you all strength, comfort, and peace as you go through this troublesome period in your lives.

Jeanette, was so sorry to hear that Mel passed. What a shock. Saying prayers foryou and Poke that you may find peace and comfort through Jesus our saviour. You might remember me from the Hamilton Club. It was a pleasure to work with Mel. He was such a riot. He will be missed. Hope to see you saturday.
