Condolence from Scott and Barb Gerber on September 10th, 2012 7:50 pm

Dear Hershey Family,

Please know how sorry we are to hear of your mom’s home going. I met her a few times back in the 80’s and knew she had a special gift to love and nurture others. I loved watching her when your family took in Matthew and Melanie. I want you to know that our family will be keeping you all in our prayers and ask God to give you peace as you know she is in the arms of Jesus.

With much love,
Scott and Barb (Carey) Gerber

Our heartfelt condolences go out to all of the Hershey family. We were greatly saddened to hear of Mary Ellen’s passing. She was truly a Godsend for our son, Noah. It was her loving embrace that comforted our scared son one cold, rainy February night six years ago. We will be forever grateful for the care that she and Dick gave to Noah and for her support for our family. Mary Ellen was a great mom, and her quite strength and fortitude were an inspiration. God has welcomed a true angel into His Kingdom.

We are so sorry for your loss. We did not know Mrs. Hershey well, but we know OF her, from her daughter, Suzanne, who obviously learned much of her loving, guiding, giving and nurturing from her mother. Whenever Bean or Suzanne spoke of Mrs. Hershey, it was with love. Our sincere sympathy to the entire family.

I only knew Mary Ellen 15 years and it was a blessing to know her. She has helped so many children to get a great start on life as a foster mother. She was a wonderful friend and neighbor. She is very much missed. God will help the family at this very difficult time.
