Mary B. Peffer

Mary Peffer Lancaster, PA

Mary B. Peffer, 97 of Lancaster, formerly of Country Meadows and Millersville, PA died Tuesday, September 11th at The Glen at Willow Valley. She was the widow of Robert K. Peffer, Sr., who died April, 1992.
Born in Lampeter, PA she was the daughter of the late Willis E. and Nellie Hosfeld Byers. Mrs. Peffer was a graduate of Indiana U. of PA with degrees in English and Art. She taught at Lampeter Strasburg School in the 1940’s and 1950’s, School District of Lancaster from 1958-1962, and Penn Manor from 1962-1972. Mary was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster. She was also a member of the Iris Club of Lancaster and the Millersville Book Club.
She is survived by a son, Robert K., Jr., husband of Linda Peffer of Lancaster, and a daughter, Susan P., wife of David Ickes of Ardmore, PA; five grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and three sisters, Elizabeth H. Byers of Lancaster, Clara B., wife of the late James Trimarchi of Indiana, PA; and Nellie B., wife of the late Robert Reynolds of Pittsburgh, PA. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy H. Byers, and two brothers, Robert H. Byers and Willis H. Byers.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Please omit flowers. Contributions in Mary’s memory may be sent to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Dr. P.O. 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.

    Mrs. Peffer was always very kind to me. When vacationing with her family or visiting in her home, she was a very nice person to be around. To Bobby,Linda and the Peffer family my sincere condolence. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of your loss. May peace be with you. Tom
