Mark Joseph Conte

Mark Conte Photo web

*UPDATE: Due to the restrictions from COVID-19, services will be private at the convenience of the family.

Mark Joseph Conte, Reading, PA, entered eternal rest on March 12, 2020. He leaves behind the light of his life, his wife Christine Anne Conte, whom he was married to for almost fourteen years.

Mark loved all things Philly, especially the Philadelphia Eagles. He loved music and enjoyed going to concerts with his wife, traveling to Las Vegas for their anniversary almost every year, and being the greatest cat dad to their fur babies.   He was a skilled cook and loved making delicious food for others. Anytime you visited Mark, he would have the smoker going on his back porch and a perfect drink to match. He had a great sense of humor and a beautiful smile to match.

Mark worked as a Deputy District Attorney at the West Chester District Attorney’s Office for fifteen years before leaving to partner in the Law Offices of Kelly & Conte. He was an excellent sounding board to all who approached him about their casework, and he enjoyed helping others navigate the law. His charisma and ability to listen to others will be greatly missed.

Those who hope and long for the day when they can see Mark again are his mom, Barbara Conte, his sister Christen and Clark Cooper and their son Jacob, his Uncle, Paul Tartaglia, his parents-in-law Anthony and Jennifer Gorick, his brother-in-law, Anthony P. Gorick, and his sister-in-law Melissa and Kris Kalicicki and their two sons, Brayden and Jacob.

Due to the restrictions from COVID-19, services will be private at the convenience of the family.  Mark didn’t want anyone to mourn his passing as much as celebrate his life.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mark Conte may be made in support of the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson Health. Please donate online at:  https://giving.jefferson.edu/giving-guide/centers-institutes/sidney-kimmel-cancer-center/give.html , or make checks payable to Jefferson, note “in memory of Mark Conte” in the memo line and mail to “Office of Institutional Advancement, 125 South 9th Street, Suite 600, Philadelphia, PA 19107”.

For online donations, please select the “in memory tribute” designation so we are able to track all gifts received in Mr. Conte’s memory.

Mark impacted me in a lot of ways. I have so many wonderful memories of me and him as well as with family events. I always loved to talk to him because he was so smart and had strong opinions. Even though sometimes we didn’t agree, he would listen, with respect, and try to see a different point of view. What I find very touching is that he was not involved in self-promotion. His personality was a magnet and his willingness to reach into people’s lives beyond the business side is a true sign of impeccable character. He could be serious, comical, caring, and, most of all, a very loving individual. I always felt honored when he called me Dad. That showed me he had a lot of respect for me and that touched my very heart. One of the things I think truly showed his character was how he befriended my brother Gary who has Cerebral Palsy. He gave Gary respect, dignity, and love that he deserved. Gary was so comfortable with Mark that, when teased by him, Gary responded with humor… something he isn’t noted for with most people. Mark left behind an immensely wide and multi-faceted legacy that those who loved him can be very proud of. I love you son. You truly will be missed.

As a supervisor of Mark’s in the Chester County District Attorney’s office, I always had a great respect for his abilities. Mark was very quick to recognize the issues in a case, and to supply a framework to understand how to address those issues. His ability to draw analogies and place matters in proper context made him a great problem-solver, and demonstrated his mature judgment, which allowed him to serve as a mentor to many younger attorneys. He was a very articulate man, and knew how to state an argument in a most convincing manner.
But what I will most remember about him was his great love for Christine – she was the center of his world, and all things revolved around their love. Christine, may you achieve peace in the face of this terrible loss, and know that many are thinking of you now and always.
