Marian E. Riexinger, 94, of Millersville, passed away on November 30, 2019 at Oak Leaf Manor South in Millersville.  She was the loving wife of the late Earl J. Riexinger.  Born in Lancaster, PA, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Martha (Waller) Cunningham.

After graduating from high school, Marian spent much of her career in retail as a Buyer for the former Watt & Shand Department Store.

In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting lap blankets and baby caps for Lancaster General Hospital, reading, sketching, painting, writing poetry, playing pinochle, bingo and dominos; and was an “ace” at crossword puzzles.  Her favorite pastime in the summer was spending as much time as possible in Betterton, MD.  She was a former Girl Scout leader and supervised the church kitchen for many years.  She endeared herself to everyone she met and was lovingly referred to by her friends and family as “Mrs. R” and “Boss Lady.”

She is survived by her two children, Susan Gantz (companion of Don Steffy) of Lancaster, PA and Joseph Riexinger (husband of Diane) of Fort Walton Beach, Fl.  Also surviving are three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Hamilton Park United Church of Christ, 1210 Maple Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17603. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. Hello – I am so sorry to hear of Marian’s passing. I met Marian when we both worked at Watt & Shand, and then I met up with her again while visiting my sister at Oak Leaf Manor South. She still had her good sense of humor, and we had fun talking about the good old times at Watt & Shand. She will be missed.

I work in the kitchen at Oak Leaf and loved kidding around with Marian. She loved it when she thought she gave me a snarky response. I sure do miss her and am thinking of the family.

I live at Oak Leaf Manor. My room is right across the hall from Marian’s and my dinner table right next to her’s. We chatted frequently on all kinds of subjects. Recently we talked a good deal about her health. I used to pray every night for Marian. I will miss her and offer my condolences to the family.

We were so sorry to read about the passing of your dear mother, Marian. We always enjoyed talking to her when we stopped at Oak Leaf Manor to visit our mother/ mother-in -law, when she was living there. Staci, I’m sorry to hear this. It’s been quite a while since meeting your grandmother at an O’Donnell family gathering. She was a very sweet lady.

Lots of fun and laughter with Marian down at Betterton years ago. We had a wonderful time with her as we spent our summers together. I will never forget her contagious laugh. Rest in peace Marian!

Our kids always loved Marian as we spent our summers with her in Betterton. She always gave the kids candy if they found blue glass on the beach. Such fond memories of a sweet lady.

We will miss Marian. Although we no longer live at Clock Towers, we were good friends there over the years before she moved to Oak Leaf Manor. I visited her there several times, often taking along CT friends. She was full of fun and always made us feel that she was doing well when she had her usual advice to offer any and all. When she didn’t do that, we knew she was down. You have lost a real original. May you always treasure her memory.
