Louis T. Menga, 64, of Lancaster, was called home by his Lord and Savior on August 11, 2014.
He was married 13 years to the late Barbara Menga, 17 years to his former wife Karen Menga, and his final 14 years devoted to his best friend and fiancée Jacqué Rupp. Born in Ossining, NY, he was the son of Rhoda A. Menga and the late Louis C. Menga.
Mr. Menga was employed by Precision Medical Products of Denver, PA for 26 years. Prior to that he had been employed for 15 years at Tensolite Corporation in Buchanan, NY.
Lou attended Grace Baptist Church in Lancaster, where he ministered as a bass guitar player and as a baritone in the “Encouragement Quartet” that he founded. He enjoyed composing original songs (lyrics and music), as well as the scripts for several plays including “Christmas with Mom and Dad,” which was staged in the US and internationally. For 10 years he performed live music every 3rd Friday of the month at the Coffee Company. One of his fondest memories was of his trip to Israel with the gospel trio “The Couriers”. He was a gifted Sunday school teacher with extensive knowledge, having read the Bible through entirely 10 times. And like his father he had the ability to repurpose things for nearly inconceivable uses.
Surviving him besides his mother are his two sons, Mark Menga (married to Diane) of Lancaster, and M. Paul Menga of Philadelphia, PA; his grandson Flynn Menga; and his fiancée Jacqué Rupp of Lancaster and her daughters Jennifer Bonifanti of Palmyra, Katherine Harnish of Lancaster, and Melanie Hogarth of Italy.
A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, August 17th, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church of Lancaster, 1899 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA 17603. Viewing will be prior to the service, starting at 1:15 p.m.. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Menga’s memory may be made to Grace Baptist Church of Lancaster.
