Orange Street Location:
You will feel at home in our family’s home. The handsome Italianate-styled mansion with a brick carriage house and adjoining stone property on East Orange Street is a warm, comfortable place to discuss plans and provides a classic setting for all sizes and types of services. Recognized nationally for its historic and architectural significance, the home was built in 1872 as the residence for almanac magnate Reuben Baer. It became a funeral home when purchased by J. Fred Fisher in 1927.
After serving as Mr. Fisher’s apprentice and associate for years, C. Abram Snyder purchased the business and the property. The mansion became his home and home to his children and their children’s children, from Kearney A. Snyder to Mark C. DeBord and Diane Snyder DeBord and their son, Jeremy R. DeBord, who owns the the family business today.
Marietta Avenue Location:
Our Marietta Avenue location in Lancaster is a quaint and cozy option for families who prefer a smaller and more intimate setting for their services. Alvin C. Sheetz began this funeral home in 1899, and sold it to Richard “Dick” A. Sheetz who ran it for 44 years. Dick and his wife, Martha “Marty,” sold the funeral home to the DeBords in 2006, shortly before Dick passed away. Marty Sheetz is still involved with the funeral home’s operations.
