Joanne N. Geiger

Joanne N. Geiger, 81, of Lancaster, died peacefully on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the Apostle Center for Care at Homestead Village. Joanne was born in Lancaster, the daughter of the late Lloyd W. and Catharine R. Nolt. She was the wonderful wife of Fred Geiger, Jr. with whom she shared 58 great years.

Joanne graduated from Manheim Township High School and attended Ursinus College and the Lancaster Business School. She was employed by Lancaster Newspapers as a secretary in the business office. She left to raise her family but later returned to the workforce as secretary to the president of Watt & Shand and worked there until her retirement. She was a member of Church of the Apostles.

Joanne enjoyed gardening, skiing, and boating, but most of all she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving besides her husband, are two sons; David husband of Susan Geiger of Alamosa, CO, and John and his longtime companion Connie of Ketchum, ID; a daughter, Mary Anne wife of George Lewis of Stowe, VT; five wonderful grandchildren, Jon and Jeff Geiger and Patrick, Dustin, and Deseray Lewis; and two sisters, Mary wife of Frank Huber of Silver Spring, and Barbara wife of the late Robert Sorisio of State College.
A Memorial Service will be held at Homestead Village, 1800 Village Circle, Lancaster, on Monday, August 27, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of the service. Interment in the Silver Spring Cemetery will be private and held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Geiger’s memory may be made to the Homestead Village Endowment Fund, 1800 Village Circle, Lancaster, PA 17604 or to Hospice and Community Care, 685 Good Drive, P.O. Fred:

I just received the Sun. News here in
Frisco, TX and was saddened to read of
Joanne’s passing. I remember fondly the
days at Bethany when Jim was alive and
the two of you were always going on those wonderful vacations on your boat. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

    Blessings to you,
    Marcette Vaughan
