Gail E. Everhart

Posted By DeBord-Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory On April 24, 2019 @ 9:04 am In Obituaries | 20 Comments

Gail Edna Stewart Everhart, 66, of East Lampeter Township, passed away on April 22, 2019 at home.  She was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late David and Edna Stewart.  Gail went to Interboro High School in Prospect Park, PA.  She enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren.  She was the loving wife of David Everhart.

Gail is survived by her husband and two sons, David (Alicia Spade) of Lancaster, PA and Brian (Kristen) of Mars, PA with two grandchildren, Alexa and Jackson of Mars, PA, and a sister, Cathy (Ed) Finely of Prospect Park, PA and a brother David (Kristin) Stewart of Wynnewood, PA.

Gail ran a small business, Country Crossing Crafts and Antiques, where she worked with wonderful consignors and met some great customers. If you ever shopped at her shop you knew she was going to ask how you were doing? Where are you from? Did you bring me any (fill in with any local food associated with where you were from)?  She cared about all of the people around her even if you were a complete stranger walking into the shop for the first time. She cared for her consignors like family.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Monday, April 29, 10:00 AM Visitation and 11:00 AM Memorial Service at Pine Grove Mennonite Church 1194 Reading Rd, Bowmansville, PA 17507. Please use the North Entrance.

In lieu of flowers please contribute to the Heart and Vascular Institute at Lancaster General Hospital. Those wishing to donate should make check out to LGH Foundation and in the memo line HVI patient support fund, or they can send along a little note with the check to 609 N. Cherry Street, 3rd floor, Lancaster, PA 17602.

Condolence from Steve Everhart on April 25th, 2019 10:34 am

I had a co-worker in Alaska who was also from Pennsylvania. She came back from a trip to Lancaster with a story. She went out shopping and was talking with a shop keeper who found out she was from Alaska. The shop keeper told her that her brother-in-law lived in Alaska and wondered if she knew me. That shop keeper was Gail.

Dear David, Dave and Brian,
I was so saddened and surprised to hear about Gail’s passing. Although we had lost touch as we became adults, I have many fond memories of our Ballantine family “get -togethers ” during our childhood. And then there you were – looking so beautiful in my wedding! Our meetings became less frequent, but you were always family!
Life is so short, but precious!
You’re in my prayers!

This has been a long and arduous journey Gail has been on. It has been filled with many medical ups and downs. Through it all, it has been wonderful to hear of the love and support Gail received from her friends, caregivers and family. Combined with God’s strength due to many prayers said on her behalf, it gave Gail the courage to continue on her path through each difficult day.
Now that her journey has come to an end, we know she is whole once more and in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior , Jesus Christ, and reunited with her dear mother-in-law, Betty.
This alone brings so much comfort.

Now begins another journey, one of grieving for all those who knew and loved Gail.
We pray that the sweet peace of Christ brings healing, and comfort to all grieving hearts, and courage to work through the journey of grief in the days ahead.

With our heartfelt sympathy,

Scott and Tammy Parker
Wasilla, Alaska

Dave, My husband Wayne, and I both graduated from Interboro with Gail and we were friends for many years. We are so very sorry to hear of Gail’s passing. The last time we were in Lancaster we went to her shop to see her and the gentleman who had the shop next to hers told us about her sudden illness while she was in Pittsburgh. We will keep you and your family in our prayers. We hope all your wonderful memories help you through this time of pain.
