Frank X. McLain, Jr., 95, Pharmacist
Frank L. McLain, Jr., 95, of 68 Glen Moore Circle, Lancaster died Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Manor Care.
McLain was a registered pharmacist for over 50 years and was employed by various city and county drug stores, most recently at Garvey’s pharmacy, from which he was retired. He was also a proofreader for Lancaster Press, Inc.
McLain served in the U. S. Navy for 3 ½ years during World War II and participated in the invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944.
He was a 1939 graduate of McCaskey High School and received a B.S. degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy in 1950.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
Among his hobbies, he enjoyed sports and doing cross-word puzzles. He was also a long-time member of the Wheatland Tennis Club.
Born in Lancaster he was the son of the late Frank X. McLain and Mary A. Skiles McLain.
He was married for 56 years to Jean N. McLain.
Frank is survived by a daughter, Andrea L. Stephens (wife of Mark) of Lititz, PA; brothers, David McLain of Lancaster, PA and James McLain of Arlington, VA, and a sister, Ruth Hull of Las Cruces, NM. Also surviving is a grandson Troy Hertzog and a great-grandson Luke Hertzog both of Womelsdorf, PA.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Claire McLain; and brothers, Robert, Theodore, Richard, and Paul.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service at the DeBord Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 141 E. Orange St., Lancaster, PA 17602 on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Middle Octorara Presbyterian Cemetery.
