Frank G. Goodhart, Jr., 86, of Lancaster, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 15, 2014 at Hospice & Community Care surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Margaret “Peggy” (Vinson) Goodhart who was his “sweetheart” for 66 years.
Born in Lancaster, PA., he was the son of the late Frank G. Goodhart, Sr. and Mary (Snyder) Goodhart.
A graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School.
He was the co-owner of Goodhart Sons, Inc. and was President until 1988 and Chairman of the Board until 2008.
He was very active at Grace Baptist Church serving as Chairman of the Building Committee for the Major Addition which was completed in 1979. Also through the years he served in the following areas: Chairman of the Board of Trustees, on the Board of Deacons, on the Missions Committee, the Budget Committee and the Board of Nominating Committee. His church family was a very important part of his life.
In his spare time he loved the beach, playing golf, hunting and spending time with his family and friends.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
In addition to his wife Peggy, he is survived by his four sons; Frank Goodhart III (husband of Brenda), Gary Goodhart (husband of Cindy), Randy Goodhart (husband of Joyce), and David Goodhart (husband of Joyce). Also surviving are grandchildren; Michael Goodhart (husband of Teresa) and their children Kaillee, Trent, and Taylor; Allison Bucher (wife of Justin); Marc Goodhart (husband of Ali); Chad Goodhart (husband of Dawn) and their children Ava and Luke; Matthew Goodhart (husband of Loralee) and their son Slade; Leslie Byler (wife of Joel) and their children Dylan, Camryn, and Gracyn; John Goodhart, Joey Goodhart, and Lexi Goodhart. Also surviving is a brother Richard Goodhart.
A funeral service will be held at Grace Baptist Church, 1899 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, PA 17603, on Friday, December 19, 2014 at 10:30 AM. A visitation will be held the evening prior on Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM also at the church. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to Lancaster Bible College, 901 Eden Road, Lancaster, PA 17601.

Sorry to here of the loss of a fine man, my thought an prayers go out to the family
Cindy and I want to send our deepest condolences to the entire Goodhart family. Over the past 40 years of employment at GSI I have had the privilege to get to know Frank and I have developed a very deep respect for him. I know I will miss him. Cindy and I will keep all of the family in our prayer, especially Peg. It’s a very difficult time for you all but the recent memories will fade and be replaced by many, many good memories of Frank.

We are so sorry to hear of Franks death. Our prayers are with you in this time of grief. I am honored to have known Frank and to have worked for him. He was a man that I respected and admired and his ability to lead was inspiring to all that knew him. I will miss him.

So very sorry for the loss of Frank. I remember him so well from St. Paul’s UMC and he was such a gentle man. I also remember thinking what a beautiful couple Peggy and Frank were. To Frank, Gary, Randy, David and their families – what a blessing to have had him for your dad and grandfather.

In times of loss, our memories are the things that help us to smile and we have plenty of wonderful memories of Frank – football games, hunting trips, boat rides on the river, church, company Christmas parties and the special relationship he had with Charlene’s parents, Russell and Ethel Morrison. Dear Goodhart Family, my deepest sympathy to you all as Frank’s prayer and wishes came true as he died sooner than later. He was so dear as he kept asking if his feet were cold. It was my pleasure to be one of his nurses and to hopefully help you all along the way. It was nice to get to know all of you in the midst of a stressful time. Take care.

Peggy and family, I just learned 2 days ago of Frank’s passing. What a great loss to all who knew him. I have wonder memories of time spent with him in many hunting seasons in Perry County. He probably already had Mother make him creamed rice in Heaven! I am honored to have known such a kind Christian man.
