Ethel Wall

Wall photo web

Ethel Wall, 85, of Millersville (formerly of Lancaster) passed away on December 24, 2021 at her home.  She was the loving wife of 53 years to Thomas J. Wall, Sr., who preceded her in death in 2012.  Ethel was born in Port Carbon, PA to Vincent and Ethel Doyle.

Ethel was full of life, brightening any room she walked into with her warm smile and sparkling personality. She enjoyed dancing with her husband, Tom, playing Mahjong with her friends, and spending time with her family. She was ever the hostess and would welcome anyone into her home, making them the center of her attention. After many years of working and raising her family, Ethel retired from Verizon.

Ethel’s greatest joy was her family.  She leaves behind three children, Thomas J. Wall, Jr. (Linda), of Rancho Mission Viejo, CA, Ann Willig (Steve) of Lancaster, Daniel Wall (Amy) of Lancaster; five grandchildren, Aimee Brierly (Kyle), Patrick and Ian Willig, and Carly and Kelly Wall; and one great-grandson, JJ Brierly.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Service at DeBord Snyder Funeral Home, 141 E. Orange St. Lancaster, PA 17602 on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 11 AM with Deacon Tony Weaver officiating. Friends may greet the family from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. The family is kindly requesting that masks be worn. Interment will follow in St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.

A wonderful woman who I was fortunate to know since I was a little girl. She and Mr. Wall were a tremendous couple and together they created a great family.
I will miss her bright smile and laugh.

Tom, Ann , Danny & families – We are so very sorry for your loss. I have such fond memories growing up beside the Wall family, especially this time of year when we would see everyone on Christmas Eve…and then after Christmas visiting each other to see what we all received as presents – with the running joke of “That will keep you warm!” I will always remember your mom’s wonderful humor – and the good times our families shared together.

Sending love and prayers to you all.

Tom, Dan and Ann… I wanted to pass on my condolences as well as those of my mother Jean Campion. Being cousins, she has many fond memories of your mother from their childhood days in the coal fields of Pennsylvania. It was certainly a treat when your mom and dad moved to Lancaster so they could continue the relationship. Unfortunately, she will not be able to attend the service but did want to send her love.

    Dear Tom, Danny and Ann,

Frank and I send our sincere sympathy. The obituary describes your Mom just as we remember her…smiling and full of personality. Frank enjoyed chatting with her whenever she shopped at Stauffer’s in R’town. She was always thoughtful and would ask about Jackie and the rest of the family. Both of your parents had a way of making people feel like they were the only ones that mattered. Your grief is because of your love for your mother. May you blessed by the many memories we are sure you have. As requested we will be making a memorial contribution in your mom’s memory to Care Ministry at Hempfield at UM Church. The donation will be used to bless a family in need of benevolence to pay a utility bill or a phone bill. Sincerely,
    Frank and Joyce Young

Wall family, your mom was such a beautiful person with a heartwarming smile. I remember the days she, your dad and my parents, Betty and Bob Hilt, would attend McCaskey football and basketball games together and the “day after” stories were reflections of their sense of humor and their enjoyment of life. Your mom and dad were the perfect couple……….your mom kept your dad in line (as well as she could)! I miss them both! The memories that cause tears today will bring huge smiles in the time to come! I’m glad you have so many to share!

We are so sorry for your loss, Ethel was so nice and sweet. We moved to Bradford St. in April and I would go and sit with her on her porch when it was warm outside. I will truly miss her.

Ann and family. Please forgive my delay in contacting you. I am.so so sorry for your loss. Your mom was one of my favorite ladies. Loved her sense of humor & just always enjoyed being in her company.
Was talking about her when we got together on December 14th. Carol Andrew shared her need for oxygen 24/7. So sorry she had to deal with that..
You had a wonderful mother who I will never forget. Loved her.
Love to you, Steve, Ian & Patrick
