Edward K. Madenford

Edward K. Madenford, 87, of Lititz, PA died Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Luther Acres. He was the husband of Augusta Staudt Madenford. Born in Pottsville, PA, he was the son of the late Edward F. and Kathryn Flail Madenford.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where he was a past president of Church Council. He was instrumental in starting Saturday evening worship services at Grace Lutheran and was a Sunday school teacher for 25 years.

He graduated from Pottsville High School and Lehigh University. He was an Engineering Administrator for RCA, retiring in 1987.

Mr. Madenford was a veteran in the United States Navy during World War ll. He served as Treasurer of the Lancaster Township School District for 10 years and was on the Board for 12 years. He was also on the Board of Community Hospital for 20 years, serving as Treasurer for 17 years. He was a former member of Conestoga Country Club and St. Petersburg, FL Country Club and a 50 year Mason member of the Pulaski Lodge #216 in Pottsville, PA.

He was an associate member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg, FL.  He served on the Board of Maximo Moorings Villas in St. Petersburg, FL.

His interests included playing golf, following the Phillies and Eagles, and he especially enjoyed following the Stock Market.

ln addition to his wife of 64 years, Ed is survived by one daughter, Jerri M. Crooms of St. Petersburg, FL,  and one son, Edward H., husband of Deborah Madenford of Lancaster; 3 grandsons, Jonathan and Carson Crooms and Marc Gehr; and one sister, Kathryn Santilli (Arthur) of Havertown, PA.

The service that had previously been scheduled for Monday, March 23, 2015 has been postponed and will be held at a later date.  Private interment will be in St. Johns United Church of Christ Cemetery in Friedensburg, PA.

ln lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to: Grace Lutheran Church, 517 N. Queen St., Lancaster, PA 17603.
