Dennis “Denny” C. Rice, Sr.

Rice obit web

Dennis “Denny” C. Rice, Sr., 66, of Conestoga, went home to be with Our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ on December 10, 2014.  He leaves behind his beloved wife of 36 years Marina (Jung) Rice.

Born and raised in Lancaster, PA, he was the son of Pauline Rice.

He retired from Kellogg’s after 21 years of employment, prior to that he was previously employed at Lebzelters Total Car Care.

A member of Bible Evangelical Methodist Church and a born again Christian, his Lord and his family were most important to him.

Denny & Marina had a special love that not too many people had.  He enjoyed playing his guitar while the two of them sang together. They sang for the Lord at church, Water Street Rescue Mission and various other places. He loved reading the word of God.   He loved being with his family and playing with his Grandbabies. He enjoyed playing golf and the game of baseball, and was a die-hard Yankee fan.  But most of all he loved the Lord.

In addition to his wife Marina he is survived by 2 children; a daughter Kristin Carstensen (wife of Eric) and their son Brendan as well as a son Shaun Rice (husband of Emily) and their children Grace and Anna.  Also surviving are Dennis’s 4 children from a previous marriage; Dennis Jr., Darrell, Darrin, and Mandy; as well as multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren from this marriage.  He will also be missed by a cousin whom he loved like a brother, Jeffrey Rice (husband of Joella) as well as his entire in-law family.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 15, 2014 at 12:00 PM at Bible Evangelical Methodist Church, 2 Kay Dr., Lancaster, PA 17603.  The visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.  Interment will follow in River Corner Mennonite Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater PA, 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA  17110.

I was deeply saddened to learn of the news of Denny’s passing. My heart goes out to the family. I worked with Denny at Kellogg’s and was always greeted with a smile and warm hello. He was a great guy to work with. We can take comfort in knowing Denny’s faith and celebrate the time he was with us.

MARINA, Played here in my bed and watched the video of you and Denny and your family and cried. I grew to love you and Denny and the kids long before Denny became a child of God, and remembering a day when you and the children were visiting Jason my son and my self and Shaun choked on a lollipop and I saved him. Lord how I wished are family’s should have stayed close. Now here we are saying goodbye to a WONDERFUL man and not evening being able to share his death with his old friend and my ex-husband due to Earl having an intercranal bleed he knows no one’s name’s anymore including his own children. I remember my Jason being born June 14th and Kristin coming July 14th a month apart and the two of us being pregnant at the same time. Many Many good memories together. I share that same nasty deacise has Denny had in it being Crohs. I love you and wish we would have stayed close but I am here for you if you need ANYTHING or even if you’d be willing to rekindle our friendship again. I can’t make to the service on Monday I watch grandbabies everyday but I will be there in thought and in Christ. LOVE Donna
