In Memorial

Barbara J. Shea, 60, of 2959 Spring Valley Road, Lancaster, was called to glory by her Lord and Savior on August 21, 2010 after an 18-month battle with ovarian cancer.

Born in York, PA, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Ruby Shultz of Red Lion, PA. She was faithfully married to the late Ronald E. Shea of Baltimore, MD, for 35 years

Barbara worked at Ambassador Advisors, where she served in many capacities since 1986, most recently as the Vice President of Client Relations. Before that, she enjoyed teaching in various schools and tutoring adolescents and adults.

Barbara graduated from Lancaster Bible College where she received a diploma in Bible and Education. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church for the past 12 years, where she served as Christian Education Youth Superintendent. Before that she attended Calvary Church for 15 years, where she routinely taught Sunday school. She enjoyed local politics and held the office of Election Official in East Hempfield Township for several years. She was also actively involved in the Christian Women’s Business Association.

Barbara liked gardening, reading about American history, and serving others. More than anything, she loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. She was loved by all whom she met, and is remembered for her warm smile, selfless acts of service, and her cheerful, hard-working spirit.

She is survived by four sons, Dr. Timothy P. husband of Janet Shea of Lancaster, Christopher J. husband of Stephanie Shea of Lancaster, Nathan T. husband of Melinda Shea of Lancaster, and Andrew R.S. Shea husband of Kristin Myers of New York, NY; nine grandchildren, Nathan, Kasey, Leanne, Elwyn, Xavier, Arella, Rowan, Alastair, and Rosalind Shea; four siblings, Gary Shultz of New Freedom, PA, Nancy Newbould, of Tampa, Florida, Virginia Shultz of York, PA, and Betty Bankes of Rossville, IN. She was preceded in death by a brother, Stephen Shultz.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2151 Oregon Pike, Lancaster, PA with the Dr. Michael A. Rogers officiating. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Shea’s memory may be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2151 Oregon Pike, Lancaster, PA 17601.
