Benjamin Daniel Hess, 77, of Pequea, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 12, 2015 while a patient at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy.
He was married 54 years to Beatrice H. Martin Hess. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Mary E. Leaman Hess.
Dan had been employed as a truck driver for All-Size Corrugated Products for 39 years. He was a member of the Byerland Mennonite Church. His hobbies included farming, an Egg Route, and helping others.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Daniel R. husband of Mary D. Ramsbottom Hess of Harrisonburg, VA, and Marlin J. Hess of Pequea; three daughters, Darlene F. wife of Sam Gehman of Wakefield, Marlene K. Hess of Pequea, and Shirlene M. wife of Todd Miller of Penryn; nine grandchildren, Seth, Scott, Heather, Alecia, Daren, Jyrelle, Darla, Dustin and Holly; four great grandsons and one great granddaughter; a brother, Charles A. husband of Lois Ober Hess of Pequea; and three sisters, Anna Marie wife of John Hochstetler of Denver, Grace A. Hess and Elizabeth M. Hess both of Pequea. He was preceded in death by a grandson Stephen Trent Gehman , by a brother Elmer L. Hess and by a sister Mary L. Hess.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Byerland Mennonite Church, 931 Byerland Church Road, Willow Street, PA with Pastor’s Joe Garber and Jay Hess officiating. The family will greet friends immediately following the service. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in the Byerland Mennonite Cemetery.
